We customized precision plastic enclosure molds for an electronic component manufacturer. Throughout the project, we put ourselves in the client’s position and fully considered technical details they had not anticipated, fully demonstrating our professional expertise and thoughtful service. The client’s core requirement was to customize a mold for a small electronic sensor housing. They only provided the product’s exterior dimensions, material (PC+ABS), and mass production capacity requirements, without accounting for such implicit needs as assembly accuracy, environmental adaptability, and ease of later maintenance. After engaging with the client, our team took the initiative to extend our services, proactively anticipating and resolving potential issues one by one:
First, considering that the sensor housing needs to embed precision electronic components — a requirement the client did not mention regarding assembly clearance — we accurately reserved an assembly allowance of 0.015mm when designing the mold cavity. At the same time, we optimized the gate position to prevent gate residual from interfering with component insertion, thus eliminating any potential jamming during later assembly.
Second, anticipating that the product would be used in outdoor environments and vulnerable to moisture and temperature fluctuations, we proactively added a moisture-proof and breathable structure to the mold’s ventilation system, optimized molding process parameters, and reduced the product’s shrinkage rate to avoid risks such as housing cracking and water ingress. Third, taking into account the client’s convenience in later mold maintenance — a concern the client had not raised regarding the replacement of mold wearing parts — we adopted a standardized, replaceable design for key vulnerable components (such as ejector pins and guide pillars) and reserved maintenance and inspection access. We also provided a spare set of wearing parts, shortening later maintenance time and lowering maintenance costs. These technical details overlooked by the client not only enabled the mold to pass trial mold acceptance on the first attempt, but also increased the product assembly pass rate from the client’s expected 96% to 99.5%, reducing later rework and waste. The client highly recognized our comprehensive service and professional capabilities, and has since become a long-term strategic partner.
