A medical device company needed to customize a housing component for a ventilator, which was required to meet medical-grade standards, featuring high temperature resistance, anti-leakage and odorless properties. The component also had to be produced using a combined blow molding and compression molding process. Previously, due to insufficient process compatibility and inappropriate raw material selection, multiple trial productions had failed. After we undertook the project, we focused on overcoming the two core challenges: process optimization and material selection.
In terms of processing, in view of the ventilator housing’s numerous irregular curved surfaces and tendency for edges and corners to crack easily, we optimized the blow molding pressure parameters and adopted precise compression molding and shaping technology to prevent deformation, burrs on edges and corners after molding. In material selection, instead of using conventional plastics, we selected medical-grade modified PP materials, which provide high temperature resistance (withstanding 121°C sterilization), anti-leakage performance, and comply with non-toxic medical standards, suitable for the long-term operation of ventilators. In the end, the trial production passed on the first attempt, with a product qualification rate of 99.8%, meeting the application requirements of medical equipment. We also saved the customer trial production costs and time, earning high recognition.
